Coach Hill's thoughts: We had just come off a home dual meet victory 2 nights before against West Potomac. So our spirits were high entering the grueling, 7 match 2 day, Northern Region Dual Team Championships against the top 12 teams in the 1998 Regional Tournament. We were concerned that forfeiting 103 and 189 would be costly against such though competition. However, it did not seem to phase us. The first match against Oakton blowout, as our first 9 wrestlers reached bonus points against the cougars. A highlight was Schmidle defeating the #4 ranked 160 lb 11-9. Robinson was everything we wxpected them to be, we had to get bonus points early to avoid upsets, and finish them off at heavyweight. I was disappointed by our giving bonus points up at 160, 171 and losing at 215. We cruised thourhg Marshall, West Potomac, and Annandale. Versus Centerville we had to get our and early lead and win the pivital matches at 135-152. In the rematch fro the finals the Wildcats shufted people aruond but we got up for them and got 2 big victories at 130 and 140. Our conditioning and intensity levels wre excellent, and made the difference in the close matches.
